Largest Data Center : The plannings about the world’s “LARGEST” data center have been recently made public. This is planned to be build at the Norwegian town of Ballengen, which is found inside the Arctic Circle.
Largest data center location is wisely chosen as there is plenty of cool air and lavish amount of hydro-power available, that would help the energy expenses to be lower down and it will become one of the largest data center in the world.
However, this area suffers from the country’s highest measure of sick leave from work. Several million dollars for this project has been raised by various Norwegian private investors -is been stated by the US-Norwegian company.
However to secure the remaining essential funds they are still working with the American government. In the initial phase, it would draw about 70 megawatts of power.
Amazon’s data centers are supposed to draw about 1000 MW of power in Virginia but are spread whole over the area rather than being clustered into a single one. Even Facebook’s data centers , since 2013, are supposed to be 385 km away from Ballengen at Lulea, Sweden but is limited to 120 MW.
This Ballengen development is ready to cover 600000 sq m and about to cover 4 storeys which puts this data center into the worlds largest data center. It’s quite literally the lowest power cost in Europe and 100% of the power is renewable, says the co-chief executive .
Reportedly , it is known that there is a university nearby which produces about 200 technology students a year and the other purpose is to recruit some of those capable students here.
The particular chief co-executive stated that they are not picking individual winners but have reduced tariffs to welcome establishment of more data centers in Norway. Putting pressure on other data center operators, major cloud infrastructure service providers like Amazon,Google and Microsoft have repeatedly cut their prices.
“Unless there are any new radical technologies that come to help compress data,we will need resources so as to provide such facilities”, he further stated. Hopefully this data center will remain largest data center for this year!
